Reading Week is a school-wide celebration of literacy held annually at elementary schools across the country.
It may include guest readers, assemblies, competitions, or other events.
Most Cranston Public Schools will celebrate Reading Week May 28 - 31, 2019, although some schools celebrate at different times.
Many schools will use the theme "A Universe of Stories" because it ties into the public library summer reading theme.

Tips for Guest Readers
Choose a book with a personal connection.
Try a favorite from your childhood or something that relates to your job or your interests.
Read it ahead of time.
Be ready for an unusual word, a tricky rhyme, or a surprising page turn.
Don't worry about a book being too short.
You can always talk about the pictures, stop and ask kids to predict the ending, or ask them what was their favorite part.
Bring at least 2 books.
You may want to read more than one or you may change your mind at the last minute.
