Equipment

All Cranston library locations offer free wifi and public computers for accessing the Internet, creating documents, and printing.

Supported software applications installed on all public computers include, but are not limited to: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint, and Internet browsers Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Typical plug-ins such as Adobe Acrobat Reader are included.

Files can be temporarily saved to public computers, but will be deleted upon reboot.

Please bring your own headphones if you need to listen to something on the computer.

Printing costs 20¢ for black & white and 50¢ for color.

Using Library Computers

You must use your own library card to sign onto a public computer. However, it’s easy to get a card. Guest passes are available for out-of-state users. 

You will get at least one hour on the computer, and more if no one is waiting. If all the computers are being used, you may make a reservation for the next available computer.

Maximum daily computer use time is four hours (one hour at the Arlington Branch).  Time limits are subject to change and may be altered at the discretion of library staff.

Computers shut down automatically 15 minutes before closing.

Assistance

Library staff are happy to provide assistance in using the computers as time and staffing allow. If you need further instruction, the library offers a variety of computer classes and one-on-one training sessions. Staff cannot process financial and personal transactions on behalf of library patrons.
