Nepotism Policy 

The employment of relatives can cause various problems for the library and its employees including but not limited to: charges of favoritism, conflicts of interest, and family discord.

To avoid these potential problems the library will not hire relatives of the Library Administration, the Board of Trustees or the Board of Directors of the Cranston Public Library Association.

For the purposes of this policy, the term “relative” shall include the following relationships: relationships established by blood, marriage or legal action. Examples include the employee’s: parent, child, sibling, in-laws, stepparent, stepchild, aunt, uncle, nephew, niece, grandparent, grandchild or cousin. The term also includes domestic partners (a person with whom the employee’s life is interdependent and who shares a common residence) and, a child of an employee’s domestic partner.
